Clinically proven, long-term relief — without medication or surgery.

Only the Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment is clinically proven to offer long-term significant relief from tinnitus. This patented treatment method is FDA-cleared, non-invasive, and customized for each patient to address the root causes of tinnitus disturbance.

Breakthrough treatment

For years, people who experienced chronic and/or severe tinnitus have tried everything from acupuncture to drug therapy to try to stop the persistent noises they hear. But now the Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment lets you relieve these symptoms and reclaim your life.

The Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment is not Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT). It’s not a hearing aid, nor a tinnitus masker. It’s a new, global breakthrough in tinnitus treatment.

The Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment:

  • Reduces symptoms quickly - Many patients enjoy some relief almost immediately
  • Treats the cause - Addresses underlying neurological causes of tinnitus
  • Provides significant long-term relief - Relief lasts, even long after the treatment ends
  • Convenient and non-invasive - No medication or surgery required. It supports your body's own natural mechanisms to block out tinnitus symptoms
  • Clinically proven - Shown to be effective for 90% of suitable tinnitus cases as demonstrated by 15 years of clinical studies and in general clinical practice

Guided, Short-Term Treatment Process

Recapture everyday moments without disrupting your life. The Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment is convenient and non-invasive, making it easy to use during regular daily activities.

A small, lightweight Oasis™ device with headphones delivers precisely designed music embedded with a pleasant acoustic neural stimulus. These sounds, customized for each user’s audiological profile, stimulate the auditory pathway to promote neural plastic changes. Over time, these new connections help the brain to filter out tinnitus disturbance, providing long-term relief from symptoms.

The Neuromonics treatment occurs over approximately 6 months, with many reporting some relief immediately. Throughout the treatment process, education and support are provided by a Neuromonics-trained clinician.

Before any treatment begins, a specially trained audiologist will meet with you to evaluate your tinnitus and hearing. After assessing your audiological profile, the audiologist will then discuss which treatment options are most appropriate for you, and whether the Neuromonics treatment can help.

If you both agree that Neuromonics can help, you will be fitted with the Oasis™ device. The device delivers an acoustic stimulus that is embedded in precisely designed relaxing music, and delivered at a low listening level. The stimulus is customized to your individual prescription, based on your audiological profile.

This phase helps relieve symptoms so that you can begin to experience control over your tinnitus while continuing treatment.

The Oasis™ device is worn for at least two hours per day (or longer, if preferred) during daily activities like reading, preparing meals or at the office.

This stage typically lasts about 2 months.

The goal of Stage 2 is to help the brain develop those neural connections that allow it to filter out tinnitus sounds. When this happens, relief continues even without regular use of the Oasis™ device.
In this stage, the device is used for at least 2 hours per day initially. Treatment times are then gradually reduced as tinnitus disturbance lessens.

This stage of treatment typically lasts about 4 months.

After a successful treatment program, your Neuromonics audiologist will work with you to develop a maintenance program you can use to continue to control your tinnitus on your own.

Many people do not feel the need to use the device after treatment. Those who do typically use it for short periods of time to help them maintain the benefits achieved.

The Oasis™

DEVICE: The Oasis™ device is a patented, precision medical instrument available only by prescription.
It is not: a masking device, a noise or sound generator, or a hearing aid. And it’s not an MP3 player—though that’s what it might look like to the casual observer.

About the size and weight of a cell phone, the Oasis™ is compact and inconspicuous, making it easy to continue day-to-day activities during treatment.

And treatment itself is a pleasant experience. Each user’s individually customized acoustic stimulus is embedded in spectrally modified and precisely designed relaxing music, and delivered at a comfortable listening level.

High-fidelity earphones provide the acoustic clarity and fidelity required for the treatment across a wide frequency range. With their lightweight, unobtrusive design, users almost forget they’re wearing them.

The Neuromonics Oasis™ device was awarded a DesignMark® and nominated for the Powerhouse Museum Award at the 2005 Australian Design Awards. The DesignMark award indicates that the Neuromonics Processor represents excellence in design as it helps to deliver treatment with a high degree of function, flexibility and portability.

Over the last decade or so, understanding of the various causes and factors that contribute to tinnitus perception and disturbance has improved tremendously. It is now understood that tinnitus is not a hearing problem, but it is a neurologically-based condition. Utilizing neuroplasticity, the Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment stimulates the auditory pathway with the intention of promoting new neural connections that allow the brain to help filter out the tinnitus perception, thus reducing the disturbance and impact of tinnitus.

It can be frustrating to invest your time and money in a treatment that hasn’t worked for you. Clinicians are trained to offer the Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment, with the only medical device with FDA clearance to be commercially distributed. The Neuromonics device is patented, customized and clinically proven for long-term significant relief of tinnitus. With research and development beginning in the early 1990's, the Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment has treated thousands of tinnitus sufferers worldwide. 90% of people involved in the most recent clinical trial for Neuromonics achieved a significant reduction in their disturbance from their tinnitus.

Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment is an acoustic-based treatment complemented by assessment, monitoring, support and education from a clinician over a six-month period. The Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment is comprehensive, non-invasive and effective – offering proven and significant long-term reduction of tinnitus disturbance.

Since the Neuromonics device is lightweight and compact and can be used while conducting most other activities, it is easy to complete treatment requirements without disruption to daily life.

Yes. It is possible to use the Neuromonics device independently of your hearing aid during quiet times, for example, when you are reading or trying to sleep. Your clinician will be able to work out the most appropriate timing with you. You may have an improved ability to use your hearing aid after completing the Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment, as your loudness sensitivity is likely to improve. Please note that hearing aids are designed to amplify sound that may improve specific kinds of hearing loss. Because hearing aids amplify sound, the amplification may mask tinnitus; however, the masking is not a long-term improvement for tinnitus disturbance. If the tinnitus can be addressed and improved, a new hearing evaluation is recommended to understand if there is a hearing loss that should be treated with hearing aids.

No. The Neuromonics device is a Class II medical device, regulated by the FDA and requires a prescription from a trained clinician. In addition, through research and clinical trials, it has been shown that in order to get the full benefits of the Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment, a program of support, monitoring, and education is required. The Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment is designed specifically to target the neurological processes of tinnitus, specifically its auditory, attentional and emotional aspects. The Neuromonics Treatment regimen is customized to each patient’s unique hearing and tinnitus profile and scheduled appointments are required to complete the treatment.

The results from your assessment visit will allow us to determine if you are a suitable candidate for the Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment. A sense of relief while using the treatment may be achieved within 1-30 days of your fitting appointment. If the Treatment does not meet your expectations, your clinician will take a multi-stepped approach to troubleshoot your situation and try to adjust. Your clinician will analyze your usage data report to monitor how and when you are using the device and we will also monitor the function of the device. If it is determined that this is not the best treatment for you, Neuromonics does offer a return option.

The treatment involves an acoustic signal which targets the neural pathways in the brain to reprogram them to filter out the sound of your tinnitus. The process occurs gradually over a number of months.

Although normal music may provide a distraction from tinnitus, it is not a treatment with long term benefits. With the Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment, the music is spectrally modified and customized with an embedded neural stimulus based upon the patient’s audiological and tinnitus profile. Through research, we are aware of the importance of auditory stimulation at high frequencies; this stimulation is not possible with MP3 Players because the sound files stored in MP3s are clipped. Additionally, music on an MP3 Player is not customized for the individual’s hearing profile. Due to the customization of the Neuromonics device, it is able to provide acoustic stimulation to a wide range of auditory pathways at comfortable and safe listening volumes.
